Johara
has been teaching and performing for over11 years. The styles
she specializes in range from Egyptian and Turkish belly dance
(or Raks Sharqi ), Rom (Gypsy), and Bellydance fusion style. She
is a certified yoga instructor in both Hatha and Vinyasa forms.
Her teaching style is clear and she fosters a fun and supportive
classroom atmosphere. Her diverse background in music and dance
along with her masters in teaching enrich and inform her instruction.
She continues to bring dance knowledge to Boston. Johara has trained
some of Boston’s best new performers. Her students have
won top places in the Boston Bellydance Awards and two passed
auditions for the internationally known Bellydance Superstars.

BEGINNER'S
BELLY DANCE 1 & 2
You will learn the Fundamental technique of Middle Eastern Belly
Dance : body isolations, hip slides, drops, lifts, twists, circles,
and figure eights along with belly rolls, snake-arms, camels,
shimmies, and some basic traveling steps. Simple Cominations will
be added to begin to put the dance movements together. Veil is
taught in alternate classes; finger cymbals are taught in alternate
sessions. No previous experience necessary. In all her classes,
students are exposed to a wide range of music: Popular and classic
Middle Eastern, Turksh, Greek, North African, and American Bellydance.
Level 2 students will gain more mastery over these movements that
will allow them to move towards more complex movements and combinations.

INTERMEDIATE
BELLY DANCE
Building upon the fundamentals, we will layer shimmies and movements,
add props and finger cymbals, explore style/musicality, create
more complex combos/choreographies, and gain performance skills.
Special topics: Egyptian /Turkish Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, and
Gypsy. Veil & Finger cymbals required (ask instructor if you
need help).
Student
Recitals are optional spaces in which to perform.

BELLY
DANCE FITNESS
A fun way to get in shape! Get a light cardio workout as you tone
and strengthen your entire body. Its so much fun, you won’t
even realize you are exercising. I include 3-yard veils which
I supply. Woomen and men of all fitness levels are welcome.

PRIVATE
COACHING
- Technique or chorography for dancers of all levels.
- Finger Cymbals and drumming lessons.
- Available to train skaters, beauty contestants, dancers from
other styles, and more.
*Wear
comfortable clothes and no shoes or soft-soled shoes. Coin hip-belts
can be purchased in class and are optional. Ask about veils (3
yards polyester chiffon/36-40 in) and finger cymbals(zills) which
are required alternate-sessions for beginners and by first class
for intermediate/performance level.
